They said that going out on a boat in Ibiza was a good idea... until you find a snake swimming around»
Stefanie Daub was stunned by what seemed to be a relaxing and peaceful boat trip around the waters off Ibiza and Formentera. At one point during the crossing, she looked out to sea and saw a snake swimming swiftly as if it were just another swimmer. Stefanie recorded this unusual moment and shared it on the 'Ibiza Winter Residents' Facebook group, explaining that she had found the snake swimming in the Ses Balandres area. «They are swimming the 700 to 1,000 metres to ses Margalides island to eat lizards and peregrine falcon eggs. I pray that the birds of the islands are protected from the snakes that come swimming in. Horror», said Timotheus Freytag in a comment on this video. Other users were amazed to see that snakes can swim: «Since when do snakes swim? What a danger», commented Ana Belén. Other users say that they will not go ‘back into the water’. The sighting of the swimming snake has also prompted some humorous comments, such as «They're just travellers on their way to the dance floor». I - A 76-year-old resident of Ibiza complains that the bank is asking her for 50 euros for a «two-line» printed receipt
Carmen Ronda, an Ibiza resident, contacted Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera after this newspaper published a report on complaints about the fact that there is only one Banco Santander branch in Ibiza, located on Avenida Bartomeu Roselló in Vila. This 76-year-old neighbour, who has had a heart attack and five stents, lives on the outskirts of Ibiza «and in this heat, I have to wait for the bus at a roadside stop». His office was on Pere Matutes Noguera Avenue, but it has closed. «Personally, I was always treated very well there», she says. This past week, Carmen needed «a simple two-line receipt from the bank confirming that the account is a non-resident current account and the date it was opened... nothing more». She had to wait in Bartomeu Roselló's office for almost an hour: «They passed me from one box to another and finally they took my ID card to a box where the employee left it on the table and went straight to his computer. After a few minutes I began to lose patience and I told him so. I go int - Important tips from the Guardia Civil to prevent theft in country houses in Ibiza
The Roca Group of the Guardia Civil and the proximity unit of the Sant Antoni Local Police gave an informative talk at the Forada Social Centre on the prevention of theft in rural areas. The session brought together some 30 residents and is part of a series of talks aimed especially at older people living in scattered areas of the municipality. The talk combined two approaches: the work of the Roca team, who specialise in rural home burglaries, and the Plan Mayor de Seguridad, which aims to protect the elderly from scams and other risks. As the officers explained, many rural homes are occupied by elderly people who, due to their isolation, can be targeted by criminals. During the meeting, basic recommendations were given to help prevent burglaries. These included not always following the same routine when leaving the house, locking doors and windows, installing light sensors and using timers to simulate presence inside. It was also emphasised that machinery and tools should not be left outside as this could mak - Adlib Ibiza shines in Sant Antoni with proposals that blend tradition and the avant-garde
Sa Pedrera de Sant Antoni became this year the epicentre of Ibizan fashion with the celebration of Pasarela Adlib Ibiza 2025. Set amidst nature and living stone, this iconic venue played host to a new instalment of the island's premier fashion showcase, once again uniting renowned designers under the banner of craftsmanship, authenticity, and creative liberty. The gala was hosted by model and presenter Nieves Álvarez, who emphasised the importance of this significant showcase of artisan and sustainable fashion, now in its 53rd year. Álvarez also revealed her playful side when she asked the Mayor of Sant Antoni, Marcos Serra, in a friendly manner, to help her pronounce the place name Portmany correctly. She also expressed his admiration for designer Tony Bonet, who drew inspiration from two seemingly incompatible artists: Lola Flores and Marilyn Manson. And all this before we present the twelve firms that paraded on Saturday with their proposals. The collections ranged from the reinvention of Ibizan tradition t
